Minecraft – A real phenomena or just another fed?

Video games are known quite a bit time now. First official video game available to the masses was a Pong game – that was in 70\'s. However the game industry started real growth in middle 80\'s and 90\'s – the age of publishing Windows and disseminating personal computers (PC in short).

In years goes by the game industry became a real big deal and nowadays game are looking a lot better then these 8-bit productions from 80\'s and 90\'s.  Today\'s ordinary commercial game has stunning graphics with great visual effect and realistic animations, textures and models. All those with an advanced and fast or precise (depend of a game genre) game\'s system and cool, moderate music and sounds as well.

Sometimes these days however we can see a game, which graphic, sound and other audio-visual features stand out from the standards we see with all of these modern games lately. This game also is written by a single programmer to be a non-commercial project at first. Sound not so good, right? Well, what if I tell you, that this game in the same time has amazingly high gameplay as well as very high possibility of addiction. And it is not over – this game has a very innovative, original, unparalleled game system, which you won\'t see in any other of these commercial, super-graphical, awesome-looking game on today\'s gaming industry. Now its sounds a little unbelievable, isn\'t it? Well, it is true!

Name of this game, which I was writing about is Minecraft – the most popular sandbox game (actually the only one known to the masses sandbox game for today). The Minecraft has been created by the single, Swedish programmer Markus Presson (known by his nickname - Notch). He created this sandbox game in the Java programming language first as a non-commercial project. The game at it first version had a mode when you could only build various structures. However as the new version of Minecraft game has been releasing, then Notch created a survival mode – a mode which made a full game. A survival mode was a total hit – it covered the RPG-like and survival-like features with a completely open, computer-generated world, where you can literally build or destroy everything. This world is always a random generated with an accordance with a seed algorithm.
This game sandbox – Minecraft although having an 8 bit-like graphic, effect, and sound – has made incredible popularity and get to the hearts of a millions of games whole around the world. Minecraft by it\'s game and has beaten many great looking commercial games, created with capital of millions of dollars. Now Minecraft is one of the most popular games in the world. And Markus Presson (Notch), who later created a company named Mojang has become a millionaire.
Does Minecraft sandbox game is a real phenomenon of game created by a single programmer which become a commercial multimillion project? Or it\'s just another temporary fed? I personally think, that Minecraft is a truly phenomenal project, the game, which itself very original and unique. No rules to follow, absolutely open world, no quests, no missions and no external purpose – all the purposes you make yourself. You can build and do whatever you imagine. Those and many more special, unique feature make this game phenomenon so big, that even though Minecraft\'s graphics isn\'t the best – this game is for sure not just another temporary fed – it is a real phenomenal project and every real gamer should play it.
